A nice quality English Windsor armchair, Circa 1850, of low hoop-back form with a solid elm seat. The pierced splat is carved in a stylised fleur-de-lys motif, flanked by close-set spindles rising to a bent hoop crest rail. The turned baluster arm supports and legs display crisp ring-turning, and the front legs are joined by a shaped crinoline stretcher.

The elm seat has developed a rich, deep patina with attractive figuring to the grain, and the chair overall shows honest wear consistent with genuine age and generations of use. A sturdy, comfortable and very usable example of the traditional English Windsor armchair.

A charming English cast iron pub table dating to circa 1920, of the type popular in taverns and hotel bars of the period. The tripod cast iron base is cast with a pierced foliate frieze centred by gilded bacchus mask medallions and terminates in three cabriole legs with paw feet. The mahogany top has a warm, rich colour with attractive figuring, and a matching timber undertier shelf sits low on the base. The cast iron has a black painted finish with the gilt highlights showing an appealing rubbed patina consistent with age and use. A sturdy and characterful occasional table, equally at home as a side table, plant stand, or genuine period pub table.

A fine 18th century Welsh oak cwpwrdd deuddarn — a traditional two-part Welsh dresser cupboard — dating to circa 1750–1780. The upper section features a dentil-carved cornice above a pair of fielded doors with distinctive scalloped panel tops, opening to reveal a fitted interior with two miniature drawers on one side. The lower section comprises a pair of oak-fronted drawers with swan-neck brass handles above two further fielded panel doors, all raised on shaped bracket feet.

The piece has replacement brass door knobs and working locks with brass escutcheons, and shows an attractive, honest colour and patina to the front timbers consistent with age and long use. The reverse displays plank construction typical of vernacular Welsh oak furniture of the period, with natural surface staining. In very good condition throughout.

This is a good, characterful example of a Welsh cwpwrdd deuddarn of useful smaller proportions, well suited as a striking piece of storage furniture in a kitchen, dining room or hallway.

A fine English yew and elm Windsor armchair, Circa 1840, in the Thames Valley tradition long associated with this distinctive form of chair-making. The high hoop back is fitted with a boldly pierced splat flanked by turned yew spindles, rising from a generously proportioned elm saddle seat with rich figuring to the grain. Turned yew arm supports lead to shaped arms, while the base is united by a bowed crinoline stretcher between elegantly turned legs. The chair has developed a deep, rich patina to the yew and elm over nearly two centuries of use and retains its original proportions and construction throughout. A handsome and versatile example, all joints are tight and it has been freshly waxed in our workshop.
